On 1991 this day, British programmer Tim-Bernners Lee posted some files online introducing his idea of a interlinked, hypertext documents which he called the "World Wide Web". Development of the WWW has been on-going since 1980 but in 1991 today was the first day the WWW went public. The first few choices of names includes "The Information Mine" which would abbreviates to TIM, the creator's name, "Mine Of Information" which would turn out to be MOI which is French for "Me". In the end, World Wide Web was chosen......
